Guest Blogs & Interviews
MADOULA
Aside from my own blog that gets updated with Madrid Birth Stories and other useful information for expats planning to give birth in Spain, I also have some guest blog posts and interviews to share. Check them out here!
"Every woman has needs during birth aside from the safety of mother and baby. One of the most important keys to a positive birth experience is how a woman feels and is treated during birth. The interventions and medical procedures that may happen are not what make or break a birth experience. Informed consent, knowing your options, being treated with dignity, respect and autonomy – all of these are far more important to how a woman experiences her birth than the specifics of how the baby is born."

Madison is keen on insisting that hiring a doula does not mean that you only want to go down the 100% natural, no pain relief route. She says: “my goal is to support women to have a respectful, empowering process and a positive experience,” and she will support and advocate for her clients, however they want their labour to go. “Having an extra person to help can be really valuable. People who use doulas are more likely to have a positive outcome and experience.”

"One of the most daunting tasks is preparing toddler siblings for a new baby when they cannot communicate well. It´s further complicated if they can´t fully comprehend what you mean when you talk about a baby being in mommy’s tummy".
"Understanding the importance of having support people who were aligned with my desires and respected my every decision and need was absolutely fundamental to me – in each of my births. I hope every woman can have this kind of support while giving birth which is what led me down the path to become a birth and postpartum doula."
